We work cooperatively with individuals, families and communities to facilitate and/or enable initiatives that reduce hunger which enhances the capacity of participants to acquire skills in preparing affordable meals, providing fresh fruits & vegetables and developing sound economic management practices.
The African Canadian Golfers Club (ACGC) uses golf as a platform for nurturing and advancing friendship among people who desire collaboration between Canada and Africa in sports, health, fitness, business and knowledge exchange. Through its members, the Club acts as an ambassador of goodwill and uses golf to promote a seamless exchange of ideas and information, and also to build a sense of community and trust in our community. The Club is a membership organization drawn from Canadians of different professional background and who have an interest in golf.
This year, and for the first time in the history of the Club, we are choosing to golf with heart and purpose. We will be teeing off in support of the Calgary Community Kitchen; an organization rooted in our community and does great work, with less.
The Community Kitchen operates a program of a self-empowering model which addresses the needs of marginalized Calgarians. They continually evolve to meet the changing needs of Calgary, in response to the deepening awareness and understanding of the complex issues of poverty and hunger.
They teach participants how to prepare nutritious meals, budget their finances – making their income stretch by preparing cost effective, healthy meals, as well as providing a means to access nutritious food.
The programs helps adults, children and families eat healthier at a lower cost, learn how to cut the grocery bills and most importantly how to keep these healthy habits throughout their lifetime. They are not just giving a ‘hand-out’, but a ‘hand-up’ instead. Information obtained from these programs will especially help influence the future generations and in turn lower the hunger population in this city.
There are so many charities to pick from, but we could not be prouder to tee off for the Community Kitchen. We sincerely hope you will be willing to open up your cheque book for this worthy cause, and even send a couple of golfers from your company as well!!!
| All donations go directly towards helping the programs run as effectively as possible to help those who can't help themselves. There are more ways to give than one.

Want to say thank-you for the help from Community Kitchen. Have enjoyed fresh fruit and vegetables on occasion that we would hesitate to buy due to high price, or even other specialty foods. Thank-you and God Bless
We are seniors who receive AB benefits. We are so blessed with the food we receive with the Spinz-A-Round program. We love a good variety of things to help us cook and eat much more healthy. Using this program and the Good Food Box where we purchase the large box gives us choice to prepare healthy meals. In our home you don’t normally find snack foods. Thank you Marilyn and staff for your efforts and continue to help those on minimum income. It is so much appreciated.
‘My children so look forward to getting the Good Food Box – always full of surprises. I’m a single parent of two growing children, thank you for all your support.’
