Orzo Pasta and Rice Pilaf | Ep. 40 | Cooking in the Community Kitchen

The perfect accompaniment to any main, or a great little lunch on it's own - try this delicious Orzo Pasta and Rice Pilaf (or to make it fully gluten free use just all rice, a Rice Pilaf). Full of flavour, try it like this or add in your own version of spices to match your families' taste buds. This goes nicely with one of our previous recipes, Classy Chicken! Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter

  • 1 cup Orzo pasta

  • 4 cups water + 3 chicken bullion cubes

  • 1 cup long grain rice

Preparation

In a 2 quart saucepan, over medium heat, melt 1/2 cup butter. Add 1 cup of rzo pasta ( rice shaped pasta).  Cook until golden. About 10 minutes. Stirfrequently so as not to burn.

Stir in 4 cups of water + 3 chicken bullion cubes.

Heat to boiling. Reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes, or until liquid is absorbed and orzo and rice are tender.  Fluff with a fork before serving. ENJOY!
